Midnight has hit a major milestone. According to Midnight Explorer data reported on October 27, 2026, the network has processed 1,019,963 total mainnet transactions. Input Output Group celebrated it on X as "A milestone for Midnight and the builders putting privacy to work."

Activity Is Climbing Fast

The growth curve is steep. Midnight recorded 47,714 transactions on October 26, compared with just 128 on September 27, as reported by crypto.news. That is roughly 372 times higher in about a month.

The timing lines up with the launch of permissionless smart contracts, which let any developer deploy apps directly to mainnet without a required review first. Note that the milestone posts did not include active address counts or a breakdown of which apps drove the activity.

Staking on the Horizon

Midnight's latest roadmap targets Q1 2027 for opening NIGHT staking and community block production, with a phased move to a consensus method called BABE.

  • Staking: Committing tokens to help secure a network, usually in return for rewards.

  • Community block production: Letting independent operators, not just today's federated partners, create blocks.

  • Consensus: The rules a blockchain uses to agree on which transactions are valid.

Exact dates and reward rates have not been announced. Other items on the roadmap include enterprise key support, mobile SDKs and post quantum proving systems, which are cryptography designed to stay secure even against future quantum computers.

Korea Hackathon Winners

The Midnight Korea Hackathon drew 38 teams. Winners included JustEnough (proving subsidy eligibility without exposing personal documents), Safejeonse (verifying rental deposit safety privately) and Veilance (proving recycled material content without revealing supplier secrets).

Under the Hood

All mainnet validators upgraded to node version 1.0.400, a targeted security patch. No action is needed from users or NIGHT holders.

One million transactions is just a number, but the trend behind it shows real builders and real users arriving on Midnight.
