Privacy is powerful, but it is even more useful when it can reach other blockchains. The Midnight Foundation's August 2026 State of the Network update highlighted three partners helping Midnight connect with the wider crypto world.

VIA Labs: Cross Chain Messaging Goes Live

VIA Labs launched a live universal cross chain messaging protocol on Midnight. Cross chain messaging lets a smart contract on one blockchain talk directly to a smart contract on another. VIA Labs supports contract to contract communication with chains such as Cardano and EVM networks (blockchains compatible with Ethereum's technology).

Two details stand out. It uses no wrapped or synthetic assets, which are copies of a token created on another chain and often a target for hackers. And it connects Midnight to more than 130 public and private networks.

Celestia: Private Trades That Can Still Be Found

Midnight is pairing its Zswap atomic swaps with Celestia's data layer. An atomic swap is a trade where both sides complete at once or not at all, so nobody gets left holding the bag. Celestia's data layer provides a shared place where trade offers can be posted and discovered, while Midnight's technology keeps the sensitive details private.

Lumera: Encrypted File Storage

Lumera brought its Cascade decentralized storage layer to Midnight. This gives apps somewhere to keep encrypted files off chain. Off chain means the data is stored outside the blockchain itself, which is cheaper and better for larger files, while the blockchain can still reference it.

Why It Matters

No single blockchain can do everything. By linking to existing networks, data layers and storage systems, Midnight can bring its privacy features to users and assets that already live elsewhere. That makes Midnight less of an island and more of a privacy layer for the broader Web3 world.
