Seed phrases, gas fees and browser extensions scare away a lot of newcomers. A September 14, 2026 post from the Midnight team explained how ecosystem partners are using abstraction to make Midnight feel as easy as any normal app. Abstraction simply means hiding complicated technical steps behind a simple experience.
The Building Blocks
First, a refresher. NIGHT is Midnight's public token. Holding NIGHT generates DUST, the private resource that pays for transactions. Developers can sponsor DUST for their users or let them pay with other tokens.
Who Is Doing What
Dynamic (recently acquired by Fireblocks): Lets apps create Midnight wallets behind a familiar email or social login, automatically setting up public and private addresses plus DUST.
VIA Labs: Moves assets between networks, including USDM (a dollar backed stablecoin) from Cardano to Midnight, and lets NIGHT holders on Cardano generate DUST without moving their tokens.
1AM and Gero Wallet: Handle DUST generation, fee payments and private transactions. Gero also lets one wallet's DUST pay for another wallet's transaction.
Sundae Labs: Built the Capacity Exchange, so apps can sponsor fees or let users pay in assets like USDM.
GalaxySwap, CSWAP DEX and Fluid Tokens: Decentralized exchanges where DUST covers fees, so users do not need to spend NIGHT.
Dune: Publishes a public dashboard of network activity.
Gero Wallet 2.7.1 Lands
Right on cue, Gero Wallet released version 2.7.1 on September 16. It adds full Midnight app support, shielded (private) balances on mainnet, sponsored DUST fees and USDM support.
Why It Matters
Most people do not care how a network works under the hood. They care that it works. By hiding the hard parts, Midnight's partners are building the kind of smooth experience that everyday users expect.
